Description & Remarks

The scientific name Setaria verticillata was used in the past for the present species. However, it is known today that S. verticillata is more common in Europe, and occurs as a new adventive invador in Israel. The awns of Setaria adherens have sharp teeth facing the inflorescens axis, thus influencing the adherens of diaspores to wooly organisms or to socks and pants.
