Description & Remarks

A newly found species of the region, known from a handful of sites in the Mediterranean region. Close and similar to Medicago polymorpha.

Plant characters :

1. Each leaflet had a distinct dark patch (none in M. polymorpha).

2. Stipules broad with short teeth (long teeth in M. polymorpha).

3. Fruit coils very tight (not tight in M. polymorpha).

4. Fruit prickles narrow and long, more or less vertical to the coil (in M. polymorpha they are in different lenghts and in a wide angle to the coil).
