The species was re-discribed in 2017.
Bulb globose, bulbiferous, 1-1.5 cm across, outer tunics grey. Scape (15-) 20-35 (-50) cm tall in blooming, before blooming top nodding. Leaves 2-3, glabrous, shorter than scape, carinate on lower side, with scabrid or ciliolate margins. Spathe 1 valved, ovate, pointed, 1.5 cm long. Inflorescence spherical to hemispherical, many flowered. Pedicels thin, 2-3 times longer than perianth, about 2 cm long. Perigonium patent, tepals 0.6-1 cm long, long-ovate-or elliptic, pointed or blunt, pure white, only sometimes with a pale purplish midvein. Filaments triangular at base, 2/3 of tepal length. Anthers pale yellow, turning greenish. Capsule sub-globose, 0.35 cm long. Blooming from late February, peaking in March, ending in early April.
Chromosome number: 2n=14 (E. Samaria, Mt. Sartaba) and 28 (Judean Hills, Jerusalem; N. Negev: Kurnub and Kefar Yeroham) (Kollmann, 1973).
Comparison: Similar to Allium neapolitanum and Allium subhirsutum. Differs from Allium neapolitanum in its terrete, not triquetrious scape and from Allium subhirsutum in its glabrous, scabrid or ciliolate (not long haired) leaves.
