Description & Remarks

An annual species present in Israel since 1906, when collected first by A. Aaronsohn near Hadera (9.9.1906). The specimen is deposited in the herbarium at Geneve, Switzerland. It was collected again by D. Zohary in 1949 at the Coast of Carmel and by others later. In the summer of 2007, during the visit of Dr. Alexander Suchorukow from Moscow, who is specialized in this genus, it became evident that the species is really found in Israel, in addition to what he reported already recently in the journal Feddes Repertorium 118 (2007) 3-4: 73-74. In fact many of the specimens named in Israel as A. prostrata belong to A. davisii.
