Description & Remarks

This Amaranthus belongs to the group of species with androgynous flowers(carrying male and female organs). It has sepals with a hard and pointed central vein and attenuating corriaceous lamina. It differs from A. retroflexus, from the same flower-type-group, which has spathulate sepals (with truncate top). It differs from A. palmerii, which has similar sepals, as the latter is dioecious and thus the male and female organs are carried on separate individuals
